IDENTITY OF THE SALESIANS

The Salesians of Don Bosco is a religious congregation founded in 1854 by St. John Bosco, a Catholic priest from Turin (Italy), in order to take care of young people especially the less privileged, preparing them for life, enriching them culturally & professionally, instilling in them strong religious values. .

Identity of the School

The DBSS is a service offered to the boys who finished the Primary School. Particular attention will be given to the ones coming from poor quarters of the environments and five Scholarships each class are reserved for the worthy pupils from very low-income families. - As a Catholic School, DBSS is of Christian inspiration and shares in the mission of the Church to form good Christians. The School is open to young people of all denominations and religions. - As a Nigerian School, DBSS is an institution which endeavors to form upright citizens, imbued with authentic Nigerian values. - As a Salesian School, DBSS educates in the style of St. John Bosco through an educating community that is permeated by Family Spirit and characterized by the elements of Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. In the words of St. John Bosco, DBSS seeks to form ‘Good Christians and Honest Citizens’

The Salesians of Don Bosco is a religious congregation founded in 1854 by St. John Bosco,
a Catholic priest from Turin (Italy), in order to take care of young people especially the less privileged,
preparing them for life, enriching them culturally and professionally, instilling in them strong religious values.
At present there are more than 17, 000 Salesian Brothers and Priests working in 125 countries in the world.
In Africa, more than 1,300 Salesians are present in 41 countries.
Nine Salesian Centers are present in Nigeria.
They have established centers in Ondo in 1983 and in the same year a Parish
and Training Centre in Akure, a youth Centre in Onitsha in 1989 and a Seminary in Ibadan in 2002 and Abuja 2008,
A parish in Lagos, Delegation house in Lagos, parish and youth centre in Ijebu-Ode,
and parish in Koko, Kontagora vicariate, Kebbi State.
